This position salary reflects a potential additional twenty-five percent increase in salary based on experience.

The PeopleSoft System Administrator provides strategic and operational leadership in PeopleSoft technical areas. This position is responsible for architecting, installation configuration, administration, monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support.

Work Location
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day administrative tasks and maintain operational stability of the PeopleSoft environments including PeopleSoft HR, ELM, FIN applications, PeopleTools, Tuxedo, WebLogic, Phire, and other supporting components.
  • Provide production support in a shared rotation. Facilitate the communication within IT and business on production or deployment issues.
  • Perform application updates (PUM images), patches, upgrades to the PeopleSoft environments.
  • Deploy new PeopleSoft environment using deployment packages (DPK).
  • Proactively monitor system performance using multiple tools such as PPM, OEM and troubleshoot alerts. Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting; design and run system load/stress tests; escalating application problems to internal support team and leadership.
  • Work with developers and functional teams to troubleshoot issues with delivered and custom developed PeopleSoft functionalities.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Information security office and infrastructure team in maintaining security and availability for the PeopleSoft environments.
  • Develop and manage internal procedures, tools, and documents to provide a high level of application integrity and stability.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

5 years of related experience

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must be t o obtain/maintain certification as a PeopleTools Expert

Equivalency
An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience (70%) and Desired Competencies (30%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.

The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Eligible List Statement
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire three months after it has been established.

Interview Selection
The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced skills in planning, implementing, monitoring, and supporting PeopleSoft systems and interfaces.
  • Ability to implement new PeopleSoft releases, maintenance packages, bug fixes, and customizations.
  • Expert knowledge of PeopleTools 8.58+, PeopleSoft Fluid Navigation, Elasticsearch, Phire, Powershell, Git, DPK, Kibana, PeopleCode, SQL, and Rundeck.
  • Understanding of Oracle database and running PeopleSoft on Windows servers.
  • Demonstrated focus on customer service and ability to translate technical terms and information into lay terms.
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and work in a team environment with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
