Overview

The Office of the Dean of the Graduate School is seeking a graduate student systems manager with strong PeopleSoft skills to oversee ongoing maintenance of and enhancements to Graduate School student record systems. This critical position reports to the deputy dean of the Graduate School and works in very close collaboration with the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Information Technology.

 

This professional will join the Academic Affairs team in the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School, which offers a challenging and supportive work environment. Engaged and dedicated staff members within the office collaborate to improve the educational experience of all graduate students at Princeton. The position is expected to begin no later than July 1, 2021. This is currently a two-year term position, with the expectation that it will become a regular full-time role thereafter, due to the importance of the work

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining PeopleSoft custom applications for the Graduate School, including interface with PeopleSoft enterprise system
  • Resolving related student records production issues, for staff within the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School as well as partners in academic departments (faculty directors of graduate studies, graduate program administrative staff)
  • Assisting in the definition of scope and goals of all new project work
  • Serving as manager and point of contact for projects that impact student records, particularly when multiple offices are involved
  • Gathering and documenting business requirements, writing specifications and end-user documentation
  • Managing Campus Solutions change requests and security requests using Princeton's Service Now ticketing software
  • Developing and implementing test plans
  • Conducting testing, such as functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Conducting training sessions on use of PeopleSoft processes
  • Working closely with Office of Information Technology (OIT) developers and security administrator, and communicating functional needs to technical teams
  • Working closely with the Office of the Registrar on reporting needs, project integration, and compliance with FERPA and University student records policies
  • Attending weekly Production Support meeting (OIT and functional offices)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of progressive experience in a central office or business unit providing functional direction and leadership
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Experience in higher education, with ability to translate academic needs into business processes
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional technical, analytical and independent problem-solving skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Query
  • Knowledge of business intelligence/reporting tools, including Cognos (preferred)
