Our Peoplesoft Systems Administrator/Project Manager will work closely with the Global HR Applications Manager and Architect regarding the day-to-day operations of the HR Applications Team and step in to assist as needed. You'll assist in setting strategic application architecture direction and application governance, design principles, security direction, information architecture and adherence to the firm’s software development life-cycle for the HR Applications suite. In addition, will be responsible for leading HR Applications projects of varying sizes with focus on the security and stability of such applications. This role will work closely with our global IT organization and our Human Resources and HRIS customers to deliver high quality applications that are aligned to the IT department’s strategic goals and initiatives.

The Essentials:

  • Works with team manager and assists in leading team members in relation to coordination of day-to-day activities, development and implementations
  • Assists in system outages and communications in lieu of the Global HR Applications Manager
  • Supports software related to HR packaged and custom developed applications

Architect Functions:

  • Assists in establishing, defining and maintaining the overall architecture of the HR
  • Applications suite including PeopleSoft HCM and applications within the MS Power Platform
  • Assists with the strategic technical architecture, software authoring standards, methodologies and processes, implementation planning, and software maintenance, primarily for, but not limited to, HR and Learning Management systems

Application Development:

  • Serves as technical contact on projects of increasing size and complexity
  • Develops applications using the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Participates in business requirements gathering and documentation for HR Application efforts with Mayer Brown system/application users
  • Assists in the evaluation of new software with focus on supportability and security
  • Develops and maintains project documentation including architecture diagrams
  • Defines and creates project plans and engages required participants
  • Works with project managers and provides regular/expected status updates
  • Tracks project deadlines and promptly identifies obstacles in meeting deadlines
  • Works with IT Operations to determine how the application is supported in production, including back-ups, disaster recovery, system performance, and project management
  • Participates in selection and maintenance of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications as assigned, including requirements gathering, analysis, software selection, implementation, integration, upgrades, documentation
  • Participates in the analysis and recommendation of vendors/products based on RFP/RFI exercises

Security/BC-DR remediation:

  • Stays current with industry security issues, and best practices
  • Monitors emerging server vulnerabilities and assists with prompt remediation
  • Assists with patching and upgrades of on premise applications
  • Assists with the security-related maintenance of on premise applications such as periodic password changes, certificate renewal, updates to business continuity plan
  • Key contributor to remediation projects that are required by the Global Information Security Group. Such projects could include mitigation of zero-day vulnerabilities and exploits or responses to known incidents
  • Collaborates with other staff in IT to ensure that security standards are developed and enforced in implementing or upgrading firm technology
  • Collaborates with HR Application team peers to ensure that security standards are enforced in HR Application technology
  • Assists in conducting the annual security audit, and may participate in other Client and/or Security audits

HR Applications Support:

  • Participates in rotational 24 x 7 application support ensuring that the application portfolio uptime is maintained according to defined SLA’s
  • Assists in system outages and resolutions
  • Assists in the resolution of HR Application vFire (service desk) tickets
  • Monitors applications to ensure stability by identifying or anticipating problems and taking appropriate steps to avoid or mitigate them, and responds promptly to all problem reports. Uses appropriate software such as Solarwinds for such purposes
  • Assists with the management of critical internal and external data integrations (most of which rely on SFTP) and processes between HR Applications and systems within the HR Application suite
  • Liaises with third party suppliers with regard to architecture, maintenance, support and problem solving
  • Liaises between Firm management, sponsors, users and other IT personnel to communicate issues regarding overall operational status of HR Applications
  • Develops written and oral communications that clearly explain technical concepts using non­technical language
  • Aligns working hours as necessary to support global teams and business partners as necessary
  • Assist Team Manager in other leadership and project management capacities as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

Professional Experience:

  • 10+ years in the technology industry preferably with experience in a Professional Services industry (e.g. Accounting Firm, Consulting Firm, Law Firm, etc.) and familiarity with applications that support the Firm’s HR department (i.e. time and billing, budgeting, cost recovery, etc.)
  • 10+ years Application experience working with ERP, client/server, web-based systems, cloud systems, Saas and Paas
  • 5+ years in business process management including; documentation, reengineering, and measurement
  • Experience interfacing with senior-level management

Technical Skills:

  • Experience and familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or experience and familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, network, application and systems engineering. SQL Server experience required
  • 10+ years Application experience working with ERP, client/server, web-based systems
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with Agile development methods and Project Management methodologies
  • 5+ years’ experience in application architecture with an emphasis on usability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
