Answer

OneWorld XE—the latest addition from JDE is very clean software and several folks have made the conversion you mentioned. The ones who have had trouble were typically the ones who had made extensive modifications to World that, as usual, were poorly documented.

The financials are almost identical, and assuming you have a COA that you are happy with, that conversion is straight forward.

The distribution and manufacturing modules are usually the ones that are the most different, and I suggest you create a set of functional specifications for your company in those areas and have the JDE folks demonstrate to you the specific functionality you require.

The other area that can create problems are the numerous end user specify versions that every customer has.  Make certain that you catalogue all of those that are deployed and to which specific workstations they are deployed.

It goes without saying, that a detailed conference room pilot and JDE training on the OneWorld navigation and such are also required.

Below is a link to a web site on the JDE Knowledge Garden with some specific migration information from World to OneWorld.

I strongly suggest you take the approach of defining your business requirements in some detail first, and then have JDE specifically answer those requirements via an RFP type response with demonstrations of the capabilities you require.
