Save not working when selected

Here is my page structure
Level 0 - search record (view)
Level 1 -
Record 1 - Grid -(view) - user selects a record from record 1
Record 2 - Grid - (view) - Based on record 1 selection, grid is flushed and new data is displayed using scrollselect function - user selects a record from record 2
Record 3 - Grid - (view) - Based on record 2 selection, grid is flushed and new data is displayed using scrollselect function - user selects a record from record 3
Record 4 - Grid - (table) - Based on record 1,2,3 selection, record 4 is updated using the update.value function
Record 5 - Grid - (table) - Based on record 1,2,3 selection, record 5 is updated using the update.value function
Save button is selected, nothing happens, no errors displayed and no new database table rows are created.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or if this structure is even possible?
