Job Description

Job Summary:

This IT professional will analyze and interpret business and technical requirements and turn them into well-engineered, tested, and deployed business application systems. This may include analysis, design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of information systems as well as new code construction, modifications to existing PeopleSoft Payroll modules, and/or package implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design strategic solutions for business problems; design solutions that are configurable and scalable to minimize software updates in response to changing business needs
  • Partner with Payroll functional representatives to define processes and then translate same into automated solutions in the PeopleSoft system, using existing functionality where possible
  • Participate in the design of technical requirements for the application
  • Participate in technical design and produce technical design documentation
  • Establish and manage documentation on customizations to the PeopleSoft payroll module, as well as any custom processes that are considered “bolt-on” to the delivered product
  • Troubleshoot business problems and high level systems issues on a daily basis working with functional and technical resources
  • Use functional understanding of PeopleSoft Payroll module
  • Utilize working knowledge of Payroll related business processes
  • Analyze and resolve production incidents and monitor and investigate batch failures
  • Evaluate, analyze, and estimate proposed system changes
  • Provide input and makes recommendations to development lead to improve the quality and assurance of the solution being developed
  • Communicate task status to management and client
  • Design, execute, and document unit test scripts and scenarios; participate in testing (e.g. user acceptance testing, system, regression, integration testing)
  • Participate in defect management using HP Application Lifecycle Management tool
  • Use of change control principles and working in a cross site environment when making system changes and modifications
  • Conduct impact analysis on proposed system changes
  • Support functional team with fit/gap analysis and recommendations
  • Adhere to program standards in use of version control software and application lifecycle management tools

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or substantially related field required; and 5 years’ experience in each of the following areas:

  • Development and support of PeopleSoft Payroll module
  • Support of PeopleSoft ERP Applications
  • Application Lifecycle Management tools; and
  • Migration and Version Control tools

*or Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or substantially related field and 3 years of experience in each of the following areas:

  • Development and support of PeopleSoft Payroll module
  • Support of PeopleSoft ERP Applications
  • Application Lifecycle Management tools; and
  • Migration and Version Control tools
