Who is Charles Phillips?

Oracle Corporation , announced that noted software industry analyst Charles Phillips will leave Morgan Stanley to join Oracle Corporation as Executive Vice President in the office of the CEO.

Reporting directly to Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman and CEO, Phillips will be on Oracle's Executive Management Committee and will focus on customer facing activities, partners, as well as corporate strategy and business development.

"Chuck's market perspective and strong relationships with CEOs, CFOs and CIOs across industries will be of enormous benefit to Oracle and our customers," said Ellison. "We are constantly looking to increase our customer focus and enhance customer interaction throughout our business, and Chuck is uniquely qualified to drive improvements in these areas."

Phillips joined Morgan Stanley in December 1994 in its Institutional Securities Division.

He has been analyzing the enterprise software industry since 1986 and has been ranked the number one enterprise software industry analyst by Institutional Investor magazine each year since 1994.

Phillips holds a B.S. degree in computer science from the United States Air Force Academy, an M.B.A. in finance from Hampton University in Virginia and a J.D. from New York Law School.

He is a member of the Georgia State Bar and the Washington D.C. Bar and a chartered financial analyst (CFA).

Phillips has been recognized as one of the top 50 black professionals on Wall Street by Black Enterprise Magazine.

He is also on the board of trustees of New York Law School and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington D.C.

His Bio

Charles Phillips is President of Oracle Corporation and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since January 2004. He served as Executive Vice President of Strategy, Partnerships, and Business Development from May 2003 to January 2004.

He is responsible for global field operations including consulting, marketing, sales, alliances and channels, and customer programs, as well as corporate strategy.

Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Phillips was with Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, a global investment bank, where he was a Managing Director from November 1995 to May 2003 and a Principal from December 1994 to November 1995.

From 1986 to 1994, Mr. Phillips worked at various investment banking firms on Wall Street. Prior to that, Mr. Phillips served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps as an information technology officer.

Mr. Phillips holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy, an MBA from Hampton University, and a JD from New York Law School and is a member of the bar in Washington D.C. and Georgia.Mr. Phillips is on the boards of Viacom Corporation, Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, New York Law School, Viacom Inc. and Morgan Stanley.
