This is the industry's first mainstream media architecture for the creation and playback of rich multimedia content for both CDMA 2000 and GSM wireless networks. This version expands its support for mobile multimedia standards to include both the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2). QuickTime 6.5 enables users to share high-quality video, audio, and text across the two predominant wireless networking technologies worldwide. Version 6.5.1 features many important updates, including Apple Lossless Encoder, a new lossless audio codec that retains the full quality of uncompressed CD audio while requiring only half the storage space; significant improvements to AAC encoding, resulting in high-quality sound over a full range of audio frequencies; and enhanced and support for iTunes 4.5 and other QuickTime-based applications.
