Application Designer is an integrated development environment that enables you to develop and customize functional PeopleSoft applications.

App Designer has evolved from a pretty rudimentary tool to a very slick tool that now has evolved to allow you to modify PeopleSoft Application Web Pages as well.

It's pretty cool considering where it started. Application Designer is also where you add or modify PeopleCode events to perform the processing you need.
